The Coronavirus (COVID-19) is presenting the world with an unprecedented situation that will have immediate and longer-term impacts on our communities. At TCEDC, we are doing our part to protect the health and safety of our staff and community partners. To this end, we have taken the following steps in response to this global pandemic.
On the 21st of December, from 10am-2pm, TCEDC hosted our first Tamale Make & Take Workshop taught by Henrietta Gomez of Taos Pueblo. Students of all ages and cooking skills attended on Saturday morning, eager to learn the art of tamale making for the holiday season. Thank you to everyone who participated and made this class possible! We look forward to the next class.
For Giving Tuesday, TCEDC is starting the Taos Food Center Business Fund to provide financial assistance to assist new food vendors to pay for their testing costs. With your donation, you make it possible for five new vendors to get their unique product onto the shelves of the grocery store.
We at TCEDC are starting the Taos Food Center Business Fund which will help new vendors be compliant with by FDA’s Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA). With your donation, you can make it possible for food vendors sell their healthy, local food in Taos and Northern New Mexico. Donate today.
"Us leaving home wasn’t a result of us coming from a bad home,” Joseluis said. “It was the result of incredible culture loss and ultimately, erasure. And once you see it from that perspective, then the journey back home becomes a cause."
